Qualifications:
1. Open to public schools serving students in grades 6-8 in Massachusetts
2. Commitment to full adoption of OSE, 100% of 6-8th grade students & teachers
3. Competitive preference for schools/districts with 15% or more of students from low-income backgrounds
3 Year Adoption:
Year 1—>Grade 6 = 6.1, 6.2 & 6.3. Grade 7 = 7.1, 7.2 & 7.3. Grade 8 = 8.1, 8.2 & 8.3
Year 2—>Grade 6 = 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 & 6.5. Grade 7 = 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 & 7.5. Grade 8 = 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 & 8.5
Year 3—>Grade 6 = 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5 & 6.6. Grade 7 = 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5 & 7.6. Grade 8 = 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5 & 8.6
Application and Timeline:
October 7, 2026: Grant Webinar with One8 Foundation
December 15, 2026: School Tour – Plymouth Community Intermediate School in Plymouth, MA
January 20, 2027: School Tour – Location TBD
February 3, 2027: Grant App Due
February 23 - 25, 2027: Interviews [Note: Squad Leaders, School Leaders, District Leaders & Teacher Leaders MUST be present for interviews!]
March 19, 2027: Award Notification
April 14, 2027: Cohort Kickoff Convening in Norwood [Required: Squad Leaders + School Leader & District Leader]
The Massachusetts OpenSciEd grant program provides schools with funding to offset startup costs, including professional learning and durable equipment kits. In addition to financial resources, cohort members receive implementation support from the OSE Mass team, including Leader PL and Community Network Events.
